Bold, modern art pieces are paired with ornate pieces from the 1920s. The lobby is a perfect mix of old Hollywood glamour and hip Downtown flavor. Fixtures include sconces by Waterworks, classically designed chandeliers by Kelly Wearstler for Hinkley, wall sconces by Chris Lydell Studio, the “Cobra” coffee table by Marcel Wanders for Moooi, and an ornate “XO” chair with ottoman by Kelly Wearstler for Hickory Chair.
The lobby is composed of sparkling marble floors, with custom terrazzo floor inlays. The lobby bar features a marble bar top and brass foot rails. The walls are covered with Venetian plaster, while the coffered ceiling is painted in a custom hue called “Wearstler Blue.”
Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. It offers California cuisine with nods to Mexican and Asian flavors. The bar menu includes drinks inspired by Old Hollywood classics, such as the “Scofflaw” (bourbon, lemon juice, grenadine).
The lobby also features a bespoke Norma Kamali vintage clothing boutique with custom cabinetry, wallpaper, and carpeting designed by Kelly Wearstler.
Wearstler’s collection of mid-century modern furniture is displayed throughout the lobby. The hotel’s Indigo Room features Wearstler’s custom pieces, including leather booths with tufted backs.
The pool is situated below street level on the ground floor, and features a laid-back setting complete with cabanas. The walls are covered with greenery, and the pool is illuminated at night with blue light.
Since the building was originally a private club, Wearstler had to get creative in order to make the hotel feel like a proper home away from home. She took inspiration from her own life, incorporating touches of her personal style into each room. Bold color palettes, unique textiles, and Kelly Wearstler’s modern furniture pieces shine through in each room.
The rooms are inspired by Old Hollywood glamour. A custom peacock-feather wallpaper is featured throughout the guest rooms. The suite was carefully designed to emulate Marilyn Monroe’s style. It features a custom-made portrait of Monroe by photographer Sam Shaw, as well as a Wearstler-designed custom dress and fur stole. The hotel features 48 guest rooms and six suites. All rooms and suites include wallpapers designed by Kelly Wearstler for Curragh Inc., lighting fixtures from Waterworks, and furniture by Kelly Wearstler for Hickory Chair, as well as luxurious bathrooms with marble vanities, Restoration Hardware bath amenities, and heated floors. The Downtown L.A.
