Dr. Seuss Enterprises Launches ‘Seussibles!’ NFTs

Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the literary company behind beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss, is launching its first-ever non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to let fans collect digital stickers of the characters from their books.

Dr. Seussibles! are built on blockchain by startup Tibles and Dabber Lab’s Flow platform. Fans can purchase the collectibles on the Seussibles! iOS app.

The company previously published a digital book, “Oh The Places You’ll Go!” that lets readers interact with an AR experience and pick up collectible cards as part of a campaign to mark the tale’s 25th anniversary.

Now it’s putting that technology into an NFT to let fans pick up and trade digital stickers.

“We’re making this fun and accessible for our consumer audience,” says Lisa Stevens, chief business officer at Dr. Seuss Enterprises. “When you’re a company like us, we’ve got such a vast library of content and people love these characters, but we can’t keep doing these things in an analog way.”

Dr. Seussibles! is built on what Dabber Lab calls Flow technology. It’s a custom blockchain with smart contracts designed to let users buy and sell the digital collectibles, which they earn by playing games like CryptoKitties.

But instead of paying for these digital stickers with Ether or other cryptocurrencies, users will pay in spankChain tokens. Spankchain is the blockchain-based adult entertainment platform that helps content creators get paid and convert their earnings into cryptocurrency.

The startup says its partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises will be the first time its Flow technology is implemented in a mainstream children’s property.

As part of the launch, Dr. Seuss Enterprises is also running a contest for fans to win prizes like spankchain tokens and Ripple XRP cryptocurrency.

The prizes, in turn, will be used to support the charity Save the Children.”I think that we’re just seeing a lot of people really getting behind blockchain and wanting to use it in different ways,” says Ameen Soleimani, CEO and co-founder at Spankchain. “And I think for us this is such a great opportunity to be able to give back.”
